French-Greek Chamber to host tax event
The French-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry is holding an event on Thursday at the French Institute of Greece (31 Sina, Athens) titled "Proposals for a Fair and Effective Tax Policy for Enterprises."
The keynote speaker will be the new head of Grant Thornton in Greece, Nikos Karamouzis, while corporate tax experts will offer their insight.

Former general secretary for public revenues will not face trial
The former general secretary for public revenues, Katerina Savvaidou, will not face trial on charges of attempted breach of trust, according to a ruling by the council of appeals court judges made public Thursday.
In April a prosecutor had asked for Savvaidou to be tried for breach of trust, a charge aggravated by the provisions of laws against the embezzlement of state funding.

Aegean Island VAT rates to be phased out… but increased for the rest of Greece!
The third bailout agreement for Greece sees the special VAT rate on Aegean islands to gradually phase out as of October 1. It will initially be abolished on the islands of Paros, Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos, Syros, Tinos and Milos.
