Sakkari to face Williams in third round of US Open
Maria Sakkari of Greece will face seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams in the third round of the US Open on Saturday after overcoming the resistance of Australian wildcard Arina Rodionova 7-5, 6-3.
With a touch more trouble than anticipated, ninth seed Williams eliminated France's Oceane Dodin 7-5, 6-4 in a second-round match on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Sakkari advances to second round of US Open
Greece's Maria Sakkari beat 24th-seeded Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the United States Open, in New York, on Monday.
Sakkari, No.98, will face Australia's Arina Rodinova, who prevailed over Dutchwoman Richel Hogenkamp, for a place in the third round.
Sakkari, now 22, made her Grand Slam debut at the 2015 US Open.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Defeats Australia's Ebden to Progress to 2nd Round of US Open
Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the second round of the 2015 US Open on Monday, defeating the Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden in three sets.
The 17th seed Bulgarian came through by a comfortable 6-4 6-2 6-4 win over Ebden in New York.

Novak Djokovic through to semifinals in Beijing
BEIJING -- World number one Novak Djokovic advanced to the semifinals of the ATP tournament in Beijing, after defeating Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov Friday morning CET.
Djokovic will next face Britain's Andy Murray, who beat Croatia's Marin Cilic in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, also this morning.

Wozniacki set to meet Peng for US Open final
Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki and first-time Grand Slam semifinalist Peng Shuai will meet for a place in the US Open title match after dominant victories on Sept. 2.
Wozniacki, the runner-up at Flushing Meadows in 2009, dismissed 13th-seeded Italian Sara Errani 6-0, 6-1 and is back in the semi-finals of a major for the first time since the 2011 US Open.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Fails to Advance to US Open Quarterfinals
Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov failed to make it to the US Open quarter-finals after losing to France's Gaël Monfils 5:7, 6:7 (6), 5:7.
Bulgaria's star tennis player, seeded 7th, was defeated by the Frenchman, seeded 20th, in a match of 2 hours and 24 minutes, according to reports of the BBC News.
Dimitrov failed to avenge a first round US Open defeat to Monfils in 2011.
