A 49-year-old priest was arrested on Sunday, accused of domestic violence after he allegedly punched a 45-year-old woman he was reportedly in a relationship with.

According to the woman, she had gone out for fun with the priest, and on their way back home, they started arguing in the car. The argument continued at home, with the priest allegedly hitting her.

A new investigation has been launched in the regional units of Achaia and Ilia, in Western Greece, following the mysterious deaths of four infants. A 24-year-old woman, the mother of two of the infants, is now a common link, as she was also present during the deaths of the other two. 

A prosecutor in Patra has ordered an urgent preliminary investigation into the deaths of three infants in the Achaia and Ilia regional units in the western Peloponnese.

It is understood that the mothers of the dead infants live in the same house.

UPDATE: Nikos Androulakis finished first in the first round of PASOK’s internal elections. With 99.35% of the votes counted, Mr. Androulakis received 29.71%, followed by Charis Doukas with 21.38%, and Pavlos Geroulanos in third place with 21.15%. A 35-year-old firefighter is currently hospitalized in the orthopedic clinic of the General University Hospital of Patra, in Rio, Western Greece, after sustaining a severe injury to his left leg while fighting a wildfire in Ilia on Friday.

Since midday on Friday, October 4, Ilia has been engulfed in flames due to wildfires raging in the regions of Geraki, Panopoulo, and Manolada.

Strong ground and aerial firefighting teams are actively working in Geraki to contain a fire that has already devastated forested areas and destroyed homes.

The Education Ministry has introduced strict penalties for parents who threaten or verbally abuse teachers, following a growing number of incidents where parents have clashed with school staff over decisions involving their children.
