Authorities deny ban on Nazım Hikmet's work
The presidency's Communications Directorate has refuted claims that late poet Nazım Hikmet Ran's book, "Kuvayı Milliye Destanı," was banned from public libraries, clarifying that the prohibition applies to a comic book referencing the work.
The clarification came after media reports alleged that the Culture and Tourism Ministry had removed Ran's book from library shelves.

Rami Library, revived from the 250-year-old artillery barracks in Istanbul, has hosted more than 165,000 people in the first week of its opening.
Having a seating capacity of 4,200 people and a capacity of 2.5 million books, the library was visited by 38,000 people on the first day.

Over 16,000 schools provided with libraries
Some 16,000 libraries have been established across the country in two months, said the education minister.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the library in a high school in the capital Ankara, named after psychiatrist Erol Göka, Education Minister Mahmut Özer said that 16,361 schools that did not have a library have been provided with libraries in the last two months.
