Megacity

Türkiye's overall population is expected to grow by 2.8 million by 2030, although five of the country's 81 provinces will experience a population decline, according to a study conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

A study conducted among 400,000 Canadians found that the inhabitants of small provincial towns feel eight times happier than those living in the megacities, according to Daily Mail.

The population of the megacities suffers far more from skin diseases than the people in smaller settlements. This is shown by a South Korean study.

More than 12 million people moved from one Turkish city to another between 2009 and 2014, according to data compiled by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K), while a separate report defined Istanbul as a megacity with a population that could swell to 17 million by 2030. 

Istanbul has been named one of the four anchor megacities of Europe along with London, Paris and Moscow in terms of its economic and real estate capacity and power, according to research by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).
