In August 2017, I met him in an apartment in a central area of Athens. For security reasons, his name could not be revealed, nor could his face be shown. The 25-year-old E. was the first Turkish citizen and supporter of the Gulen movement to be officially granted political asylum in Greece after the failed coup in Turkey.

Turkish authorities in Edirne announced on Friday the arrest of seven suspected "terror group members" attempting to cross into Greece.

According to reports, six of the individuals are believed to be members of the Gulen movement, and one is associated with the PKK, both classified as terrorist organizations by Turkey.

Fethullah Gulen, the Turkish Islamic preacher and a long-time critic of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has passed away at the age of 83, according to reports from Reuters citing Turkish TV channel NTV. Gulen had been residing in the United States for many years prior to his death.
