Legendary jazz and R&B artist, composer and vibraphone soloist Roy Ayers will be performing at the Gazarte venue in Athens on Saturday, December 10. The lineup also includes Mark Adams (keyboards), Trevor Allen (bass) and Christopher De Carmine (drums). The gig is set to start at 9.30 p.m. and admission ranges from 26 to 48 euros (23 to 45 euros for tickets purchased in advance).

A group of Greek acts will pay tribute to the late British artist David Bowie at the Gazarte Roof Stage in Athens on Thursday, November 10. I remember coming home a couple of summers ago and finding a large package in the post. Inside was a volume titled "Greece in the 1980s: A Social, Political and Cultural Dictionary" (published by Epikentro) that was edited by two academics, Vassilis Vamvakas and Panayis Panayiotopoulos.

The seventh edition of the Djangofest is scheduled to take place at the Technopolis Cultural Complex in central Athens on September 20 and 21. The event celebrates gypsy jazz with live music performances, seminars, workshops, screenings and interactive games for children, among others. Greek-born, London-based stand-up comedian Katerina Vrana presents her "About Sex" show at the Theatro 104 in Athens. Performances take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, from September 28 through November 6. Shows start at 9.15 p.m. and admission is set at 10 euros.
