Stricter rules for early release: New criminal code amendments in Greece

The Greek government has introduced a new amendment to limit early releases for serious crimes, addressing previous leniencies under which offenders could be released after serving as little as 40% of their sentence. This change, spearheaded by Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis, aligns Greece with European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings.

Body found in Malakasa ravine shows signs of strangulation

The man found dead in a ravine in Malakasa, northeast of Athens, on Wednesday afternoon showed signs of strangulation, sources say. 

Preliminary forensic findings suggest the 65-70-year-old's death was likely the result of foul play. 

The victim has not been identified, as no identification was found on his body. The Homicide Division is investigating.
