Jankovic to face Pennetta in Stuttgart 2nd round

STUTTGART - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will face Flavia Pennetta in the second round of the Stuttgart WTA tennis tournament after the Italian beat Andrea Petkovic of Germany 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 late Wednesday.

Jankovic has a 6-2 head-to-head ratio against Pennetta, the current world number 13.

The Serbian beat Mona Barthel of Germany 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 late Wednesday.

Jankovic's compatriot Ana Ivanovic reached the second round of the USD 710,000 tournament by beating Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday.

In a bid to reach the quarter-finals, Ivanovic will face Germany's Julia Goerges.
