Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has qualified on Thursday night for the semifinals of the USD 916,131 WTA Doha tournament after defeating German Julia Goerges, 7-6 (1) 7-6 (6).
Halep (27 y/o, WTA #3), main seeded who starting next Monday will climb to #2 WTA, prevailed in two hours.

Bulgarian tennis player Sesil Karatantcheva was scored a victory over Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova at the qualifiers of Western and Southern Open tennis tournament in Cincinnati, OH (US).
Karatantcheva won 5:7, 6:4, 6:3 in a match that lasted 2 h 13 m, Bulgarian news website Dnevnik.bg has reported.
Ivanovic reaches Miami third round
MIAMI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has progressed to the third round of the WTA tournament in Miami courtesy of a deserved victory over Irina Falconi of the U.S. 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-3.
Ivanovic is now Serbia's only female representative in Miami after Jelena Jankovic, Bojana Jovanovski and Aleksandra Krunic dropped put.

Jelena Jankovic ousted in 4th round
NEW YORK - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic lest to Belinda Bencic from Switzerland 6(8)-6 6-3 in the 4th round of the US Open on Monday.
That match took two hours and the win made Bancic the second youngest quarterfinalist of in the history of the US Open, behind compatriot Martina Hingis, who was six months younger when she won the tournament back in 1997.

Zimonjic and Nestor through to U.S. Open third round
NEW YORK - Serbian tennis player Nenad Zimonjic and Canada's Daniel Nestor qualified for the U.S. Open third round in men's doubles as they defeated Columbia's Nicolas Barrientos and Santiago Giraldo in the second round match late on Friday (CET), 6-2, 6-2.
Zimonjic, Goerges lose in Roland Garros mixed doubles final
PARIS - Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic and Germany's Julia Goerges on Thursday lost the mixed doubles final at the Roland Garros tennis tournament to the Dutch-German pair of Jean-Julien Rojer and Anna-Lena Groenefeld 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.
Zimonjic thus missed the opportunity to win his third Roland Garros mixed doubles title after triumphing with Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia in 2006 and 2010.

Jankovic to face Pennetta in Stuttgart 2nd round
STUTTGART - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will face Flavia Pennetta in the second round of the Stuttgart WTA tennis tournament after the Italian beat Andrea Petkovic of Germany 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 late Wednesday.
Jankovic has a 6-2 head-to-head ratio against Pennetta, the current world number 13.
The Serbian beat Mona Barthel of Germany 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 late Wednesday.

Ivanovic beats Lisicki
STUTGART - Serbian female tennis player Ana Ivanovic scored a successful start at the Stuttgart WTA as she beat Germany's Sabine Lisicki in the Wednesday match, 6-1, 6-3.
In the next match, Ivanovic will cross rackets with Germany's Julia Goerges who defeated Romania's Sorana Cirstea, 6-1, 7-5.
