Traffic on Highway DN 7C "Transfagarasan", crossing the high Fagaras Mountains in the Southern Carpathians from Bascov (Arges county) to the junction of the Highway linking Brasov to Sibiu (central Romania) is open from July 1 till Oct. 31.

According to a release issued by the National Company of the Romanian Motorways and Highways, there are traffic restrictions on certain stretches of the 151-km road due to falling stones.

Traffic remains closed at night, from 9 p.m. till 7 a.m. on the highway stretch between kilometer 104+000 and kilometer 130+000 (Balea Waterfalls).

With plenty of hairpin turns and scenic beauty, the Transfagasan has been rated one of the most spectacular roads in the world; it reaches a height of 2,042 meters and is the second-highest road in Romania after Transalpina (DN67C), that crosses Parang Mountains at 2,145 meters height.AGERPRES
