Nikolić and Tsentrgaz director discuss South Stream

BELGRADE -- President Tomislav Nikolić conferred in Belgrade on with Stanislav Anikeev, director of Tsentrgaz, the company that will build South Stream in Serbia.

The talks covered the importance of the natural gas pipeline project for the country, reported Tanjug.

According to the presidential press service, Nikolić said that South Stream "bears exceptional importance for Serbia and offers a major chance for the development of the economy and improvement of Serbia's position both in the region and in Europe."

Nikolić and Anikeev "agreed that it is realistic to expect the first 30 kilometers of the pipeline to be built by the end of the year," and added that Serbian companies will be hired in the construction as well.
