Data show rise in traffic accidents but fall in deaths in June

Road accidents in the month of June went up by 4 percent compared to the same period last year, data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) showed on Friday.

The same data, however, showed a drop in the number of people who died on the country’s roads over that period.

In the 1,125 traffic accidents reported in June, 67 people died (down 13 percent from 2013), 102 were seriously injured (down by 22.7 percent y/y) and 1,211 suffered minor injuries (up by 6 percent y/y), according to ELSTAT.
