Greek unions plan demos to coincide with Sunday’s budget vote
The countrys main labor unions are planning demonstrations in the capital and other major cities on Sunday to protest a planned vote in Parliament on the budget for 2015.
ADEDY, the civil servants union, complained on Wednesday that the budget would lead Greeks into further deprivation and would perpetuate austerity and poverty.
The private sector workers union, GSEE, and the Communist Party-affiliated PAME are also planning rallies on Sunday.
The demonstrations are scheduled to begin from around 5 p.m. in Athens, Thessaloniki and the Cretan port of Iraklio ahead of a scheduled vote at midnight on Sunday.
