Vukomanovic, Burkhard on importance of OSCE human dimension
BELGRADE - Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Dijana Vukomanovic conferred with Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Peter Burkhard, with whom she agreed that the 'human dimension' of the organisation and promotion of human and minority rights are exceptionally important.
During the meeting in the House of the Serbian parliament which was also attended by members of the Serbian delegation Meho Omerovic and Gordana Comic, officials pointed to the importance of the role of OSCE missions in the field and the way in which their activities could be modified to better suit the needs and challenges member countries are facing.
The meeting also covered the role and activities of the Serbian parliament's standing delegation during Serbia's chairmanship in OSCE, and propositions were also voiced for joint activities of the parliament and the Foreign Affair Ministry in the course of 2015.
Both sides underscored the importance and role of MPs in the OSCE institutions when it comes to the promotion of basic principles on which the organisation rests, and the talks also covered one of the priority goals of Serbia's presidency embodied in the promotion of cooperation and dialogue between Western Balkan countries.
Members of the standing delegation pointed to the importance of the role of the parliament during Serbia's OSCE chairmanship and voiced propositions for improvement of cooperation with the Mission, especially in the sector of human and minority rights.
