Twinning project aimed at strengthening SAI capacities ends
BELGRADE - Twinning project "Strengthening Capacities of the State Audit Institution (SAI)" aimed at efficiently managing public assets in Serbia has come to an official close at the Serbian parliament building.
The SAI carried out the project together with the Netherlands Court of Audit and the UK National Audit Office, with participation of the Slovenian Court of Audit and the Swedish National Audit Office.
The project lasted 29 months, and the EU financed it with EUR 1.4 million.
SAI President and Auditor General Radoslav Sretenovic said on Wednesday that the project had had four components: legal framework, organizational development, enhancement of audit capabilities and engagement of interested parties.
Veroljub Arsic, chair of the parliamentary committee on finance, state budget and control of public spending, said that the exchange of experiences with more seasoned institutions in other countries had been of great importance.
The SAI was established in 2005.
