Icelanders flock to join the Zuist movement
Icelanders are flocking to the Ancient Zuist movement – a new religion that is enjoying a revival while thousands are joining as part of a protest against the state. The religion worships Sumerian gods and is against taxes,
The promise of tax rebates from citizens who are opposed to state funding of religion has caused the Zuist religon to flourish. More than 3,100 people – 1% of Iceland’s population – have joined the religion in the past two weeks.
Followers of Zuism get tax rebates that are earmarked for religion. All that you need to do to become a Zuist in Iceland, is to register your religion with the state and opt-out from paying “parish fees”.
