Gojkovic expects PACE to recognise Serbia's progress
BELGRADE - Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic met Tuesday with the president of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Pedro Agramunt, expressing the expectation that the institution would recognise the progress achieved by Serbia to date.
Among other topics, they discussed migrations, the fight against terrorism, the rise of populist left- and right-wing movements in Europe.
Serbia is still in the monitoring process, which is due to be completed soon, she told reporters after the meeting.
"At the end of the month, we will have visits from two rapporteurs, from Finland and Azerbaijan, and we are expecting a positive and objective report on the situation in Serbia as well as to see Serbia make the transition to the post-monitoring phase at the end of the year," Gojkovic said.
