20 detained in PKK/KCK operations in İzmir

Twenty people were detained on May 23 in simultaneous operations carried out against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party/ Kurdistan Communities' Union (PKK/KCK) in the western coastal province of İzmir, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The operations were carried out as part of an investigation by the İzmir Chief Prosecutor's Office under the coordination of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) in İzmir city center, as well as in the districts of Bayındır, Torbalı and Menemen.

The police reportedly seized a number of documents and digital data during the operations, including a list of the names of the PKK militants hiding out in the mountains as well as their families.

The list is also reported to include information on the families of the "neutralized" PKK militants during the Turkish military's operations.

The authorities use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the militants in question were either killed, wounded or captured.

The suspect at whose house the list was seized was allegedly staging various activities to help the families of killed militants, according to the report.
