Djokovic named second seed at Wimbledon behind Sinner
LONDON - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is the second seed for the upcoming Wimbledon tournament behind world number one Jannik Sinner of Italy, the organisers announced on Thursday.
Djokovic arrived in London on June 23 and has trained at Wimbledon courts this week.
Djokovic underwent a knee surgery on June 5 and has still not revealed whether he would play at Wimbledon, where he has won seven titles in his career.
However, by naming him the number two seed, the organisers have signalled the expectation to see him compete at the tournament.
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Djokovic in last season's Wimbledon final, is the third seed for the men's singles event.
Wimbledon will take place from July 1 through 14.
The draw is scheduled for Friday morning.
