Bakoyannis urges Doukas to pass mayor’s baton while pursuing PASOK leadership

Former Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis reiterated his call for current Mayor Harris Doukas to delegate his responsibilities to a deputy while Doukas runs for the PASOK leadership. 

At Wednesday's city council meeting, Bakoyannis warned of the risks posed by a leadership vacuum, emphasizing that managing Athens is as demanding as overseeing several ministries. He urged Doukas to transfer his duties to ensure the city's effective administration during his candidacy.

Bakoyannis addressed Doukas, saying, "Since you have officially announced your candidacy and are unable to fully perform your duties, please transfer all responsibilities to a deputy mayor until the internal party elections are concluded. This will allow you to remain as mayor while ensuring the city continues to operate effectively."
