SYRIZA Political Secretariat: New Criticism of “Black Funds” by the Tsipras Wing

The meeting of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA PS ended today without any resolution. Despite lasting over four hours, it failed to bridge the gap between the stance of SYRIZA PS President Stefanos Kasselakis and leading party officials, with direct reference to former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

In contrast to the previous meeting of the Central Committee last weekend, the “Tsipras guard” returned today with a new, signed text of criticism against the party leadership, highlighting three main points.

The 3 Points

  1. French Election Results: The historical executives of SYRIZA PS emphasized the significance of the French elections’ outcome, viewing it as indicative of the path progressive forces in Greece should follow.
  2. Black Funds Allegations: Tensions rose sharply with a critical response to Mr. Kasselakis’s statements about the existence of “black funds” in Koumoundourou. The eight co-signatories of the text demanded that the issue be put to a vote.
  3. Organizational Structure Dissolution: The text strongly criticized the proposal made by Mr. Kasselakis to dissolve SYRIZA’s entire organizational structure, including Member Organizations and Prefectural Organizations, describing it as completely wrong.

Continuation and Demand

The meeting is expected to continue on Monday. The eight executives who are reacting demand a decision from the Political Secretariat after a vote, opposing the claims about “black funds” and finances.

Signatories of the Criticism Text

  • Alekos Flambouraris
  • Olga Gerovasilis
  • Katerina Notopoulou
  • Thanasis Theocharopoulos
  • Yannis Ragousis
  • Kostas Zachariadis
  • Zoe Karkoulias
  • Eleni Symeonidou

New Proposal

According to party sources, President Stefanos Kasselakis submitted a proposal to set up working groups in view of the TIF (Thessaloniki International Fair), focusing on five areas:

  • Housing
  • Private debt banks
  • Small and medium enterprises
  • Health
  • Employment

Financial Committee Report

The Political Secretariat was thoroughly informed by the financial committee, which provided complete transparency about the party’s finances. Due to the importance of the matter, the Political Secretariat will continue its meeting next week.

Kasselakis’s Statement

Upon entering the meeting and before the debate began, Mr. Kasselakis apologized for the delay, explaining that he had met with a citizen and stressed the need to address people’s problems.
