Man in Athens arrested for rape of 6-year-old girl

Greek police on Wednesday arrested a 45-year-old man in central Athens for raping a 6-year-old girl.  

The girl was taken to the hospital by his mother on Wednesday afternoon where a doctor determined that the girl had been sexually assaulted and the police was notified, sources said.

Following an investigation, authorities found that the suspect, a Syrian national who lives in a neighbouring apartment, abducted the girl on Wednesday morning and raped her.   

The suspect was sent before a prosecutor to be charged.
