Top court hears Kasselakis senior’s tax woes
The Council of State, Greece's top administrative court, heard the tax dispute on Monday involving Theodoros Kasselakis, father of former SYRIZA-PS president Stefanos Kasselakis, over tax debts exceeding €11 million.
The case concerns income and property taxes for a villa in Ekali linked to an offshore company whose main shareholders are Kasselakis and his wife. Kasselakis lost appeals in lower courts, which ruled he was the effective manager of the company in Greece. His lawyers argued that the offshore company should pay the taxes, not Kasselakis, as the company remains active.
The court reserved its decision on the interpretation of the relevant tax law.
