ND ethics committee to discuss Samaras expulsion Tuesday

New Democracy's ethics committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday to take up the issue of Antonis Samaras' expulsion from the ruling party's parliamentary group.

Some committee members, like MP Theodoros Karaoglou, who are on mission's abroad have been told to bring forward their return. Karaoglou was due to return from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Wednesday.

The committee is expected to rubber-stamp the decision by the party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis' decision to expel Samaras over his increasingly strong, even strident, criticism of the government.

Samaras himself will be in the United States in the coming week, said his spokesman, Nikos Tsioutsias. "As for the rest, I don't know," he said. But he did try to convey that Samaras is in no position to bring down the government as he did 31 years ago with Mitsotakis' father, Konstantinos.
