Melbourne honors Greek language achievements

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) celebrated 38 recipients of the Certificate of Attainment in Greek, highlighting Australia's growing commitment to preserving Greek language and heritage.

As the official examination center for the certification in the Australian state of Victoria, GCM reported an increasing number of participants in the program, which is the only Greek language qualification recognized in Greece and Europe.

Consul General Emmanuel Kakavelakis praised the students, highlighting the cultural and personal significance of learning Greek. GCM President Bill Papastergiadis emphasized the certification's role in preserving Hellenic identity, noting how language barriers can alienate diaspora Greeks from their heritage.
