House price increase of 90% in eight years
Residential sale prices in Attica increased by 90% from 2017, when the market recovery began, until the third quarter of this year.
According to the processing of the Bank of Greece (BoG) indexes, prices are now at a level that is 5.2% higher than in 2008, when the previous market high was recorded.
At a national level, the increase in the same period is 71.6%, now only 1.3% away from the high of 2008. In newly built properties (up to five years old), the increase in the period 2017-2024 reaches 77%, having exceeded the previous high by 3.7%, which is not yet the case with older constructions (over five years old), where despite the increase by 67.8%, prices are 4.4% lower compared to 2008.
In Thessaloniki, the increase reaches 84.6%, with the average selling price being 1.67% lower than during the previous high, while the rises in the countryside are smaller....
