Burglars steal €270,000 and firearm in daring Gerakas heist

A daring burglary resulting in the theft of €270,000 took place early Tuesday morning in Gerakas, east of Athens, according to reports on Friday.

Two unidentified individuals, their faces concealed, reportedly disabled several external security cameras by spraying them with paint. They then climbed onto the rooftop of a house, broke through a door, and entered the property.

Inside, the burglars located and breached a makeshift safe hidden within a staircase step, which contained €270,000 in cash. They also stole a handgun from a bedroom closet.

The perpetrators used a rope tied to a rooftop antenna to make their escape.

Numerous tools used in the operation were left behind at the scene. Authorities have seized these items, which are being examined for evidence.

An investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects.
