Many Greeks spend Christmas away

This festive season is evolving into one of the best, if not the best ever, for winter destinations and beyond.

Despite the problems created in some areas by snowfall, demand for mountain resorts has also increased for the period after the holidays, mainly at skiing destinations. Therefore, while reservations from January 7 onward were previously practically nonexistent, they have now begun to increase. 

Hotel occupancy rates in most Greek winter destinations during Christmas and New Year's exceeded 90% and in some cases reached 100%, the head of the informal group of hoteliers of mountain destinations, president of the Hoteliers' Association of Drama and general secretary of the Panhellenic Hoteliers' Federation, Angelos Kallias, explains to Kathimerini.
