Eight sentenced in 2020 death of Bulgarian football fan in Thessaloniki

The Appeals Court in Thessaloniki has closed the case surrounding the death of 28-year-old Bulgarian football fan Tosko Bozadzhiyski, who fell victim to a violent fan-related incident five years ago near the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.

The court found all eight defendants guilty after a prolonged trial, issuing sentences ranging from 1.5 to 4 years, which were lower than those handed down by the initial court. The 31-year-old driver of the vehicle was sentenced to four years in prison for manslaughter by conscious negligence, a charge downgraded from the felony of manslaughter with possible intent. Her then-partner, 53, received a sentence for assault and disturbing the peace. Both were ordered to serve the remainder of their sentences in prison.
