Man, 19, dies following car collision with stray horses on Lesvos
A 19-year-old man on Lesvos has succumbed to injuries sustained when the car he was travelling in collided with two stray horses in the early hours of Monday.
The man suffered severe head injuries, as well injuries to other parts of his body, in the collision.
He was one of four passengers in the car, which included a male driver and two women, who emerged from the crash with slight injuries.
The horses were killed in the collision.
On Monday evening, police on the island arrested the owner of the horses, a 40-year-old soldier. He stands accused of causing serious bodily harm through negligence and of causing death through negligence.
The man was released pending trial on the instruction of a military prosecutor.
