Hoteliers take action against sustainable development tax
Hoteliers in the southeastern Attica municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni have filed an appeal against a new sustainable development tax on hotels and commercial businesses.
The Athens, Attica and Argosaronic Hoteliers' Association took the action against annual charge that the municipality said is intended for the creation of a sustainable urban environment.
Under the charge, hotels are required to pay €12.60 per square meter, tourist residences €0.45/sq.m. and catering and entertainment businesses €8/sq.m.
The charge for commercial businesses over 100 sq.m. is €8/sq.m. and under 100 sq.m. €1.10/sq.m.
