Monastiraki Square hit by arbitrary interventions

As architect Nikos Kazeros was walking through Monastiraki Square in central Athens recently, he noticed a group of workers repositioning the colored tiles that pave the western side of the square. In what order are you repositioning the tiles? he asked. It's all random, the men replied. Their answer came as no surprise.
Ponta: We shall earmark 50 million lei to flood-affected counties
The Government will earmark 50 million lei for removing the effects of floods in the Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Olt, Teleorman and Prahova counties, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Thursday.
Victor Ponta also added that, if necessary, funds will also be approved for Timis and Caras-Severin counties, after some assessments are carried out first.
European Court Issues EUR 2 B Verdict in Yukos Affair
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the former shareholders of the former oil concern Yukos are to receive a EUR 1.9 B compensation from Russia.
This is the second sentence Russia has faced over the nationalization of Yukos in just a few days.
Moscow has seriously pushed down the value of the enterprise with fantasy taxes and a manipulated auction, the court found.
Mircea Basescu to remain under preventive detention
Mircea Basescu will be kept under preventive detention as the Constanta Court of Appeal on Thursday defeated his request to be prosecuted under house arrest.
The court take the same decision for co-defendant Marian Capatana.
The court's decision to keep Mircea Basescu and Marian Capatana under preventive detention is final.
