Serbian foreign trade up by 6.9 percent

BELGRADE - Serbian foreign trade increased by 6.9 percent in the first eight months of 2014 compared to the same period last year and reached USD 23.68 billion, the deficit dropped by 2.9 percent, and the export-import ratio rose to 72.7 percent.

Serbian industrial output drops by 4.3 percent

BELGRADE - Serbian industrial output dropped by 4.3 percent in the period between January and August 2014 compared to the same period last year, the Serbian statistical office said on Tuesday,

The industrial output in August was 13.1 percent lower than in August 2013 and 12.8 percent lower than last year's average.

Bulgaria Sends Firearms, Ammo to Iraqi Government

Bulgaria has granted arms and ammunition worth about BGN 6 M to Iraq as part of an international effort to back the Iraqi government in its fight against Islamic State militants.

The grant comprising about 1,800 firearms and some 6 million rounds of ammunition has already been received by Iraq, the Defence Ministry in Sofia said in a statement.

Lot 2 of Bulgaria’s Struma Motorway To Be Completed in Autumn of 2015

Lot 2 of the Struma motorway will most probably be completed by the autumn of 2015, according to Bulgaria's caretaker Regional Development Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva.

Zaharieva inspected Tuesday the 37.5km motorway section from Dupnitsa to Blagoevgrad.

Degas painting valued at 6 million euros stolen from Cypriot pensioner

Thieves have stolen a painting by French master Edgar Degas valued at 6 million euros ($7.6 million) from the home of a 70-year-old Greek Cypriot, Cyprus police said on Tuesday.

The painting, titled "Ballerina adjusting her slipper," was taken on Monday from the home in the island's second city Limassol and was not insured, a police spokeswoman told AFP.
