Silent cinema festival at Istanbul Modern

Istanbul Modern Cinema will host the second International Istanbul Silent Cinema Days between Dec. 3 and 6. 

Bringing together pioneer examples of cinema accompanied by live music, the festival's corporate partners are Italy's world famous cinematheque, Cineteca di Bologna, and Eye Filmmuseum, a prestigious film museum in the Netherlands. 

Plane hailing Turk-Japanese bond completes the 1st flight

A Turkish Airlines (THY) plane named after a Japanese town where dozens of Ottoman sailors were rescued in 1890 has landed at an airport near Tokyo, one day before the premiere of a movie telling a dramatic tale of Turkish-Japanese historic friendship.

Turkey detains over 2,500 ISIL members over three years

Turkey has captured more than 2,627 members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), including 837 foreign nationals, over the past three years, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Having added ISIL to the official list of terrorist organizations in 2013, Turkish security forces have since detained 2,627 suspected ISIL members in anti-terror operations.

Aselsan signs 54-million-euro deal with Turkish defense industry authority

Leading Turkish defense company Aselsan has announced it signed an agreement regarding the "Active Protection System Development Project," dubbed AKKOR, for the Turkish Land Forces with the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), valued at 54 million euros.
