Two arrested on Crete in connection with ax murder

Police on Crete Wednesday detained two foreign nationals, a man and a woman, in connection with the death of a Romanian man believed to have been hit on the head with an ax. The body of the Romanian man, believed to be aged around 35, was found in a derelict building in the center of the city of Hania. 

Tsipras to supporters: We weren’t compromised, we made a compromise

Alexis Tsipras spoke to supporters in the iconic Cretan village of Anogeia on Tuesday evening, returning to the large island from where, as opposition leader, he once proclaimed that “markets will dance to our tune” when a SYRIZA government assumes power.

“We remained standing when we had a gun at our temple,” the ex-PM told a crowd of supporters.

The data collected concerns searches for holidays in Greece between April 2 and 5.
