Victims of Adana dormitory fire disaster identified

Twelve bodies retrieved from a fire disaster at an all-girls' dormitory in the Aladağ district of the southern province of Adana were identified late on Nov. 30, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The bodies of the victims were identified as Cennet Karataş, 10; Tuğba Aydoğdu, 10; Bahtınur Baş, 10; Nurgül Pertlek, 11; Gamze Bagır, 12; İlknur Maden, 12; Sümeyye Yetim, 12; Sema Nur Aydoğdu, 13; Sevim Köylü, 13; Zeliha Avcı, 13; and Sare Betül Genç, 6.

One of the victims, Fatma Canatan, 20, was an educator at the dormitory.

The bodies of the victims were sent to burial places after forensic autopsies.

The bodies were placed in coffins with victims' names written on them, before hearses covered with Turkish flags arrived in a convoy in Aladağ. 

Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said a commission to investigate the disaster would be formed in parliament.

An expert report filed after the fire said the disaster was believed to have been caused by an outdated electrical panel.  It also said the building's fire exit was made of plastic and did not have handles.
