Bulgaria will open a new consular office in Japan, according to a decision of the caretaker government

It will be located in Kinki, a western region of the island of Honshu, which generates 16% of the GDP of the country and is considered Japan's second biggest economic center.

Around ¼ of the Bulgarians living in Japan reside on the territory of Kinki.

Yuzuru Hirano has been elected honorary consul of Bulgaria

He chairs the Osaka Restaurant Management Association and is President of Honke Sanukiya group, which operates a chain of over 80 restaurants and several hotels.

The seat of the Honorary Consulate will be in Izumiotsu, and the district will include the prefectures of Mie, Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, and Shiga.

Bulgaria currently has two honorary consuls in Japan, including Hisashi Nakayama, seated in Yokohama, and Shinichi Munemasa, seated in Fukuoka.

The opening of the new consular office in the Kinki region will contribute to the expansion of trade and economic relations and the strengthening of cultural, scientific, and educational exchange between the two countries, according to the press office of Bulgaria's caretaker government.
