Police are bolstering their presence in the streets of Kumanovo, northwestern Macedonia, just days after a deadly attack claimed the lives of 8 officers.

Interior Ministry officials told local news outlets and state agency MIA hat "security measures" were being taken in the town.

Most of the officers are deployed "in that area of the town [on 11 Oktomvri and Todor Velkov Streets, where] most key facilities, state and local institutions are located," according to daily Utrinski vesnik.

The reason, however, has not been specified.

This comes before Sunday's anti-government protests called across Macedonia, but also amid efforts to smooth out differences between Macedonian political parties which are set to continue on Monday after a first meeting took place this week.
