Former Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Özel was informed on a potential coup attempt in 2015, but no action was taken although Özel had ordered an investigation to be carried out, according to a main opposition report that investigated the July 2016 coup attempt, daily Cumhuriyet reported June 13.

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office issued detention warrants on June 13 for 42 Interior Ministry personnel, who were previously dismissed or suspended from their duties after being determined to have used ByLock, an encrypted smartphone messaging application used by members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.    

Ankara police detained some 35 gendarmerie forces personnel on active duty as part of two ongoing investigations on June 5 into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is accused of perpetrating the July 2016 coup attempt, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.  

U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen was planning to come to Turkey himself to lead the July 2016 coup attempt but could not do so due to health problems, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on June 4, basing its report on information from the Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office.

The Turkish Prime Ministry has sent parliament summaries of proceedings to lift the immunities of 18 lawmakers, including main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy leader Şaban Dişli, Turkish media outlets reported on May 2. 

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office has launched a probe into a former French diplomat on charges of "instigation of the assassination of the president," a presidential spokesperson said on April 24.

İbrahim Kalın told a press meeting that a statement by Philippe Moreau Defarges was not an insult or a criticism but a call for an assassination.

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office on April 13 demanded 15 years in jail for the former prosecutor of a controversial National Intelligence Agency (MİT) trucks case on charges of "membership to a terrorist organization," state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

"The organization has been able to have legal arrangements done by the political authority." This is a sentence from the indictment into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), written by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office.

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office launched a probe against more than 190 judges and prosecutors on Dec. 1 over their alleged links to the Fethullah Gülen movement, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.    

A total of 191 judges and prosecutors were suspended as part of the investigation, said a judicial source.
