Former Turkish Chief of Staff Özel informed of coup attempt in 2015: Report

Former Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Özel was informed on a potential coup attempt in 2015, but no action was taken although Özel had ordered an investigation to be carried out, according to a main opposition report that investigated the July 2016 coup attempt, daily Cumhuriyet reported June 13.

Detention warrants issued for 42 former Turkish interior ministry personnel

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office issued detention warrants on June 13 for 42 Interior Ministry personnel, who were previously dismissed or suspended from their duties after being determined to have used ByLock, an encrypted smartphone messaging application used by members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.    

35 soldiers on active duty detained over Gülen links in Ankara-based operation

Ankara police detained some 35 gendarmerie forces personnel on active duty as part of two ongoing investigations on June 5 into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is accused of perpetrating the July 2016 coup attempt, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office launched a probe against more than 190 judges and prosecutors on Dec. 1 over their alleged links to the Fethullah Gülen movement, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.    

A total of 191 judges and prosecutors were suspended as part of the investigation, said a judicial source.
