Miracle in Ilia as 78-year- old man is found alive after missing for 5 days (Video)
A lucky man was found trapped in his car in Panopoulo village in Ilia of Peloponnese. He was reported missing for five days, since the heavy rainfalls hit Ilia area last week. All the members of his family thought that there was no chance of finding him alive. But 78-year- old Thodoros Patsouris proved that he was not meant to die that way.
New rainstorms leave five dead in Greece
Five people have lost their lives due to the heavy rainfall in the past few days. A 30-year-old man from Ksilokastro was the last “victim” of the extreme weather conditions. He tried to drive through a stream in his car, a few meters away from his house, but he was swept away by the fierce water.

Extreme weather leaves disaster in its path (videos+photos)
Extreme weather phenomena have left disaster in their wake, with tornadoes, heavy rains and winds uprooting trees and causing floods throughout the country. A tornado hit the area of Lehena and Vartholomio causing many cars to overturn and many trees to be uprooted. The road network is closed. The tornado left nothing but destruction, when it hit the area from Vartholomio up until Lehena.
Police found pieces of clothes of woman gone missing in storm
The 53-year- old woman from Mihaniona, Thessaloniki, who disappeared on Tuesday night during the extreme rainfalls is still missing, after police found her deserted car in the centre of the region early Thursday morning.
Police, the Coast Guard, the Fire Department and the Hellenic Rescue Team are still searching for her whereabouts, but have so far failed to find her.
Bad weather hits Greece
Storms, high winds and whirlwinds are sweeping across Epirus, Thessaly and Peloponnese.
The last 2 days were very difficult for residents in western Greece, since their homes were put in danger by the floods.
In Igoumenitsa, a 36 year old mother of two almost fell in a stream when her car was drifted by a flow, while roads in the region are turned into rivers.

Greek summer season begins with short-staffed Fire Service
The summer season in Greece is at the outset, but daily Ta Nea reports that the country’s Fire Department is short-staffed. Several fire trucks are immobiliized due to lack of tires and spare parts. Aircraft are very old and therefore are grounded while the Department also faces shortages in basic equipment due to drastic reductions in funding.
Residential and commercial building collapses in East Village New York
The explosion and collapse were reported at around 3:20 p.m. at 7th Street and Second Avenue Thursday afternoon at a residential and commercial building.
According to the Fire Department multiple injuries have been reported and two people were rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.

Snowfall and low temperatures have returned to Athens on Wednesday, as a new wave of adverse weather conditions has hit the country.
