2,600-Year Old Stone Head of Apollo Donated To Bulgarian Historical Museum

A benefactor requesting anonymity has turned in a stone head - probably from a statue of Apollo - discovered in a potato field near the village of Alexandrovo, Stara Zagora district to the National Historical Museum (NHM).

The donation was made with the co-operation of the General Directorate of the Interior Ministry.

Istanbul Atatürk Airport breaks record with 1,500 takeoffs and landings

Istanbul Atatürk Airport reached all-time high numbers with a total of 1,500 takeoffs and landings on Sept. 18, setting a new record for the airport, Doğan News Agency has reported.

According to a statement by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), 236 planes took off and 245 planes landed at the airport on domestic flights on Sept. 18.

Bulgarian Children's Fund Bosses Face Corruption Charges

Bulgaria's special prosecution is investigating five officials from the Fund for Treatment of Children Abroad, including its former head, Pavel Aleksandrov, for corruption, it said on Thursday.

The  administrators of the fund, who have been charged with participating in an organized criminal group, corruption and official misconduct, were all released on bail. 

Bulgaria deploys troops at its border with Greece

Bulgaria decided to deploy more than 400 security men at its border with Greece to prevent a possible increase in migration flow, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced.

The country, though, is not included, at least for now, in the route used by immigrants and refugees to reach northern European countries and refugee flow from Greece to Bulgaria is currently rare.
