Paris 2024: Karalis to Be Flag Bearer at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony

The Greek Olympic Committee selected Karalis after he won the bronze medal in Paris with a jump of 5.90 meters.

Earlier, gold medalist Miltiadis Tentoglou had expressed his desire to carry the Greek flag at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

It should be noted that at the opening ceremony, the flag bearers were Giannis Antetokounmpo and Antigoni Ntrismpioti.

Greek pole vaulter Polak handed provisional suspension

Greek pole vaulter Eleni-Klaoudia Polak was disqualified from the Olympics and handed a provisional suspension at the Paris Games after she tested positive for banned substances, the IOC said on Wednesday.

The Greek Olympic Committee said on Tuesday that one member of its team was expelled from the athletes' village but her identity was previously unknown.

A Greek athlete has tested positive for banned substances at the Paris Games and has been expelled from the athletes' village, the Greek Olympic Committee said on Tuesday.

The team had been informed on Monday afternoon by Greece's anti-doping agency and the athlete, whose name or sport were not announced, was provisionally suspended and moved away from the team.

Olympic flame-lighting ceremony to go ahead despite coronavirus concerns

Next week's flame-lighting ceremony for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will go ahead in Greece despite concerns about the virus outbreak.
The Greek Olympic committee says it is working closely with national health authorities and will hold meetings to re-evaluate the situation every two days.
