US Embassy donates PPE to Hellenic Police
The US Embassy in Athens has bolstered the Hellenic Police's defenses against the coronavirus with a donation of masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment.
Monday's donation, which included 15,000 gloves and 8,200 face masks, was personally delivered by US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt to the chief of the Hellenic Police (ELAS), Lieutenant General Michael Karamalakis.

Police dismantle illegal cigarette plant
Police said on Thursday they located a fully equipped illegal tobacco processing and production plant as part of an organized operation in an area of Attica.
Four people were arrested in connection with the case, accused of being members of a criminal organization and running the factory. The case file also includes the landlord, who is being sought by police.

Police issue 18 fines over lack of masks
The Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Wednesday recorded 18 instances in which citizens had not been wearing a mask in an enclosed public space, a police statement said on Thursday.
Of those violations, four were in Western Greece, three on Crete and two in Attica. Since the government began easing the lockdown on May 4, 304 such violations have been recorded nationwide.

ELAS records 95 violations of Covid restrictions
Continuing efforts to enforce restrictions that remain in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Tuesday recorded 23 violations in which citizens had not been wearing a mask in an enclosed public space, a police statement said on Wednesday.
Of those violations, 10 were in Attica, seven on islands in the northern Aegean and four in Western Greece.

Police record 22 violations of coronavirus regulations
As part of continuing efforts to enforce restrictions that remain in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Monday recorded 22 violations in which citizens had not been wearing a mask in an enclosed public space, a police statement said on Tuesday.
Crete a hotspot for traffic violations
A total of 3,309 speeding offenses and 62 violations regarding safety precautions for the transport of children were confirmed by traffic police during inspections conducted nationwide from May 4 to 10, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) said on Tuesday.
More specifically, a total of 17,320 vehicles were inspected by 957 traffic police units.

Police arrest 52-year-old over Kypseli square mugging call
A 52-year-old man is accused of instigating clashes between police and partygoers in the downtown Athens district of Kypseli in the early hours of Saturday by calling the 100 emergency number and claiming he had been mugged at knifepoint.
ELAS records 134 violations of coronavirus measures
The Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Thursday recorded 26 violations of regulations calling for social distancing and face masks following the easing of lockdown restrictions on Monday.
Of those violations, 12 were in Attica.
A total of 155 transgressions have been recorded since Monday, with 150-euro fines issued in each case.
