750 village guards employed in northern Turkey

Some 750 village guards employed as part of the fight against terrorist organizations started working at their posts in the northern province of Giresun after finishing their training, Giresun governor's office announced April 19.   

The announcement said that besides operation activities, the guards are also working for the "maintenance of security and public order."

Turkish president issues New Year's message

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an issued a New Year's message on Dec. 31, in which he reviewed domestic and international developments throughout the year.

Erdo?an said Turkey chose the continuation of stability and security in the Nov. 1 snap polls after the June 7 general elections, expressing his wishes for a beneficial service throughout the coming period. 

Ankara on alert over developments in northern Syria

Turkish leadership has visibly intensified its focus on cementing security at the country's border with Syria, which has recently been the scene of an influx of some 23,000 Syrians into Turkey during the fight between Kurdish forces and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to seize the border town of Tal Abyad.
