A Saudi woman has been named to a senior government post for the first time, authorities said on Sept. 27 shortly after a ban on women drivers was lifted as the conservative kingdom takes steps to modernize its image.

A delegation of the Ministry of Culture and Information as taken part in the annual Conference of the Council of Ministers of Culture of Southeastern Europe.

The delegation was led by Minister Vladan Vukosavljevic.

BELGRADE - Serbian Musicians Union President Boris Postovnik opened the 11th European Congress of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM) at the press center of the Serbian Journalists Association in Belgrade on Friday.

Tanjug has continued to work despite being deleted from the national media registry and having no permit to operate after being officially shut down following a failed privatisation effort, raising suspicions about who is now behind it.

Serbia's Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media, REM, on Monday adopted guidelines which could prevent broadcasters from airing reality-TV programmes before 11pm.

Goran Karadzic, the president of REM, an independent body with the authority to set policy, said on Monday that the guidelines will be enforced after a period of public debate.

The Serbian government has adopted a decision on legal consequences of the closure of the Public Enterprise News Agency Tanjug.

It is based on the Law on Public Information and Media, which stipulates that the law regulating operations of the public enterprise expires on October 31, 2015, the Ministry of Culture and Information said in a release on Wednesday.

BELGRADE -- The Independent Journalist Association of Serbia (NUNS) called on media professionals to engage in "Five Minutes of Thunderous Silence" on Sunday.ession.

According to NUNS, they would thus "oppose the further humiliation of their profession."
