Saudi woman named to senior government post for first time
A Saudi woman has been named to a senior government post for the first time, authorities said on Sept. 27 shortly after a ban on women drivers was lifted as the conservative kingdom takes steps to modernize its image.

Vukosavljevic, Pamuk discuss potential writers' conference
BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic and Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk met at the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts on Monday to discuss an initiative for Belgrade to next year host an international conference of eminent writers from around the world.

Serbia's Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media, REM, on Monday adopted guidelines which could prevent broadcasters from airing reality-TV programmes before 11pm.
Goran Karadzic, the president of REM, an independent body with the authority to set policy, said on Monday that the guidelines will be enforced after a period of public debate.

Government decides to shut down state news agency Tanjug
The Serbian government has adopted a decision on legal consequences of the closure of the Public Enterprise News Agency Tanjug.
It is based on the Law on Public Information and Media, which stipulates that the law regulating operations of the public enterprise expires on October 31, 2015, the Ministry of Culture and Information said in a release on Wednesday.
