Turkey and the European Union have decided to move together at the World Trade Organization (WTO) platform against the United States’ planned tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, the Turkish Economy Ministry has announced.

Turkey attracted $1.17 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in May, the Turkish Economy Ministry announced on July 25.

According to a ministry report, foreign direct investment in Turkey amounted to $4.8 billion between January and May 2017, an increase of 11.2 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

Turkey and Austria have engaged in another row over an event marking the first anniversary of the July 2016 coup attempt, with the Turkish Economy Ministry denying reports that it requested the event in Austria. Vienna had said that it barred Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci from entering the country for such an event.

The Turkish Economy Ministry has said Iraq's decision to ban tomato imports is "seasonal and routine" and will not have any negative impact specifically on Turkey's tomato exports to the country. 

Iraq has announced it would ban tomato imports from Turkey as of May 21 to protect its own producers, according to an official statement from the Turkish Economy Ministry. 

A leading business council has called for the diplomatic row between Turkey and the Netherlands to be resolved in diplomatic manners, voicing hopes for ties to normalize soon. 

Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci has highlighted the need for a free trade deal between Turkey and the U.K. soon after Brexit.        

Zeybekci was in London where he attended an event organized by the think tank Chatham House on March 8.        

Rolls-Royce has said it has been selected as the technical consultant to ITUNOVA Technology Transfer Office (TTO) for a needs analysis project to assess and identify the developmental activities required to establish a nuclear supply chain in Turkey. 

Turkey received $889 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in October, the Turkish Economy Ministry said on Dec. 23.        

Foreign investment in Turkey reached $8.62 billion in the first 10 months of 2016, down by 44.3 percent compared to the same period last year.        

International business leaders will meet for two days in Istanbul starting Nov. 2 at the Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum, which highlights Turkey's strategy to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations with countries in Africa.
