Everybody should back Central Bank: Governor

Central Bank Governor Erdem Ba?ç?, whose office term will terminate soon, said everyone should back the bank as the institution represents the dignity of this country, in his speech to the parliament.  He also signaled he won't say "no" to any offer to keep the post.

Ba?ç? made a 4-hour long closed door presentation to members of the Planning and Budget Commission on Jan. 7. 

Turkish Central Bank sells $10.5 billion to national gas grid in 2015

Turkey's Central Bank sold around $10.5 billion in currency to the national gas grid BOTA? in 2015 to prevent any further hikes in the dollar's value, according to the lender's head.

Central Bank Gov. Erdem Ba?ç? gave the detailed figures during a presentation to the cabinet late Jan. 4. 

Turkish Central Bank head to explain why inflation rate missed target yet again

Central Bank Governor Erdem Ba?ç? will explain why the bank's 2015 inflation rate was 8.81 percent instead of its target rate of 5 percent in a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet ?im?ek.  

This is the fifth time the bank was unable to achieve its target inflation rate under Ba?ç?. 

Central Bank foresees 6.5 pct inflation in 2016

The Turkish Central Bank has forecast the country's inflation to stand at 6.5 percent at the end of 2016, according to the bank's governor, Erdem Ba?ç?. 

Addressing a press conference for the presentation of the bank's 2016 monetary and exchange rate policy in Ankara, Ba?ç? said the bank would maintain its tight monetary policy, while ensuring foreign exchange liquidity.

Turkey Central Bank raises inflation forecasts

Turkey's Central Bank raised its inflation forecasts for this year and signaled it could hike rates once the U.S. Federal Reserve begins to tighten, in what could be a boost for the long-suffering Turkish currency.

In its quarterly report on inflation, the bank forecasted an inflation mid-point of 7.9 percent at the end of 2015, up from 6.9 percent in its previous report.

Global Finance magazine lowers Turkish Central Bank governor's grade

Global Finance magazine has lowered the rank of Turkish Central Bank Governor Erdem Ba?ç? from B+ to C, ranking him as one of the worst performers this year. 

Ba?ç? was not graded in his first year in the job in 2011, but took a B+ in 2012, B in 2013, and B- in 2014.
