Central Macedonian Region Chief Apostolos Tzitzikostas, aged 37, announced his candidacy for the leadership of the New Democracy (ND) Party on Sunday night. The young man’s bid for the leadership, following that of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, aged 47, lowers the age bar for the party’s control from current leader Evangelos Meimarakis, aged 62.

As a graduate of a state school, former PM and Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras was successful in life and later wrote articles praising the state system and critical of the pseudo-elite systems to blame for the collapse of the Greek economy.

Socialist PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos told private SKAI TV on Tuesday that the government's strategy and choices weren't the best. He lashed out against Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Parliamentary Speaker Zoi Konstantopoulou.
