Serbia's opposition announced two separate anti-government protests on Wednesday in Belgrade as Serbia's president-elect, Aleksandar Vucic, prepared to assume his presidential post.

A new political movement called Free Citizens of Serbia was founded on May 21 in Belgrade, Beta reported.

Former ombudsman and runner-up in the last presidential election Sasa Jankovic has been elected as its leader.

Around 4,000 protesters led by the campaign group "Let's not drown Belgrade" marched on the Serbian government building and the Belgrade city assembly to mark the first anniversary of the controversial nocturnal demolitions in the city's Savamala district.

Former Ombudsman and runner-up in Serbia's April 2 presidential elections, Sasa Jankovic will meet European Parliament officials and ask for their help against what he calls "anti-European processes" in Serbia.

BELGRADE - Sasa Jankovic announced on Thursday he would in the coming days form a political movement bringing together organisations and individuals who had backed him in the presidential race.

In his first public address since the April 2 elections, Jankovic said the organisation would run in the next elections.

Former Ombudsman and runner-up in the April 2 presidential elections, Sasa Jankovic, announced on Thursday that he intends to launch his own opposition political movement, which he said will be formally registered in the coming days.

After seven days of mass protests on the streets against the election of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic as Serbian President, coverage of the protests in the media, or lack of it, is seen by some as confirmation that media is not free in the country.

The Republic Electoral Commission recounted votes from two polling stations in front of TV cameras on Sunday after allegations of irregularities were raised by opposition presidential candidate Sasa Jankovic.

The recount was urged by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who won last Sunday's presidential elections and denies any electoral fraud.
